Mr. Butterfield began his professional career in 1984, as a Professional Stock, Option, and Commodity Trader with Rialcor Shatkin, Chicago, Illinois. In 1990, he registered as a Commodity Trading Advisor with a very successful 4 year track record. In 1991, he became a Financial Consultant for Smith Barney, Quincy, Illinois. At the beginning of 1997, Mr. Butterfield founded Butterfield Capital Advisors/Butterfield Futures. As a Registered Investment Advisor, he could offer fee-based investment advice to his clients, and as an IB he could offer futures brokerage services.  In 2011, formed The BlackBay Group which encompasses BlackBay Capital Advisors (RIA), BlackBay Futures Group LLC (GIB), and BlackBay Trading Advisors LLC (CTA).

At various times throughout his career he has received national recognition for real-money competitions. They are as follows:

TOM HENDERSON – Vice President

Mr. Henderson began trading commodities privately in 1980, before joining Iowa Grain as an Associated Person in 1985.  In 1990 he went into private practice and also formed a title insurance company, Pike County Title.  In his private practice he has specialized in Real Estate/Corporate Law.

Mr. Stein began his trading career in 1980 on the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade with Shatkin, Arbor, & Karlov.  After a one year hiatus from the trading world in 1987, he joined LIT America on their overnight trading desk and subsequently became a market-maker in Spot, Forward, and EFP Forex for a number of leading proprietary firms such as Sanwa BGK, Geldermann Ltd., Linnco Fuures Group, and First Continental Trading.  In 1999, Mr Stein went off on his own, establishing Stein Capital Management, Inc, and securing his Commodity Trading Advisory designation from the NFA.  Mr. Stein switched gears in 2004, going towork for the CME Group as a Lead II Analyst.  Mr. Stein joined the BlackBay Group of Companies in 2011.  His role at BlackBay is as a trader for the CTA, a branch mananger for BlackBay Futures Group, a solicitor for BlackBay Capital Advisors, and an advisor on technology and risk. Mr. Stein holds a BA in Business-Economics with a minor in Music from the University of California at Los Angeles (1980), and an MBA from the Universityof Chicago Graduate School of Business (2009).  He is also a published photographer and author.

2009 – Black Diamond Capital Group – Senior futures and options trader; Mentor to the firm’s interns. Focus: ICE Energy futures crack, FX outrights and calendar rolls, equities, debt, and agricultural commodities and the soy crush.

2004 – 2009 CME Group, Inc – Lead II Analyst, Lead User Acceptance Tester, Globex Control Center (GCC). I served as a technical analyst, a member of the error trade committee and exchange liaison officer communicating new software specifications and resultant functionality. Lead user acceptance tester for new and updated proprietary software and external trading platforms.

1999 – 2004 Stein Capital Management, LLC – Commodity Trading Advisor with audited average annual returns in excess of 30% . Market focus on FX, Equities, and Debt.

Mr. Duesterhaus has worked with the farming community selling fertilizer and ag chemicals, since beginning his career with Duesterhaus Fertilizer in 1994.   Mr. Duesterhaus has volunteered to do work in various roles at Quincy Notre Dame, and Quincy University athletics, and is currently the assistant football coach at Quincy Notre Dame.

KEVIN PAWLOW – VP Marketing

Mr. Pawlow joined the firm in 2011, and will be getting the needed licenses to conduct business for our firm.  Kevin had a successful 30 years of being a Regional  Vice President for Lanter Delivery Systems one of the leaders in Expedited parts delivery for companies such as John Deere, Toyota. Kevin Co-Managed Lanter Delivery Systems which was a 100 million dollar company.  He was responseable for managing both the top and bottomline, as well as the daily operation.

He attended and played basketball at Althoff High School in Belleville and Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville.  He continues his love for and affiliation with the sport by serving as an official, working both high school and college games.  He also coaches the Southwestern Illlinois Jets Basketball Club.  Kevin is a proud father and enjoys coaching his daughter, Allie, and son, Jack, during their various sports. Kevin  also was on the Board of the National Foundation of Ectodermal Dysplaysias for 10 years. He also Chaired the organization for 4 years.

Mrs. Butterfield has been with BlackBay/Butterfield Capital Advisors since its inception in 1996. From 1993-1996, she was Mr. Butterfield’s sales associate at Smith Barney, and previous to that was a Sales Assistant at Searle Pharmaceutical, Skokie IL.. Mrs. Butterfield graduated Magnum Cum Laude from Columbia College, Chicago, Illinois, with a degree in Marketing and Business. She is a lifetime member of the local organization ENCORE, which supports music education; as well as, a community Volunteer for State Governed TeenReach Program; supporting young adults and Secretary of the Board for Friends of the Castle; supporting Historical LandMarks of the United States.

In 2004, she started 7Fourteen Entertainment LLC, to provide opportunities for the production, marketing, and management services of hidden midwest talent.
